How the hell many babies are abandoned that they need to open the doors to a freakin' 7-11 as a "safe haven?" Hell, I don't even go into a 7-11. I figure a 7-11 clerk (even like the ones in Clerks) is probably better than anybody whose parent would abandon the baby with the clerk, right?

By the way, it appears as though the baby is not a newborn . . . that strikes me as odd because it seems to me that usually when that happens it's a newborn. Though that doesn't make it right.

Random thought: Why don't they make onesies for adults? I agree that it's terrible that some women are so desperate and afraid that they feel all they can do is get rid of their babies, and I'm so thankful that society finally caught up and came up with ways to try to keep babies safe when it happens.

But 7-11! My husband manages a 7-11. I find the mental image of him receiving a baby rather amusing. I'm afraid he'd try to bring it home and keep it, rather like the cat that came home from work one day (that my sister adopted, thank-her-very-much; I already have three kids, three BIG dogs and three cats; I'm full-up).

And some of his employees are, well, not especially bright. There's one girl in particular that alarms me with her own children. YIKES!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110507722103996096.post-77619476101059961192008-03-02T10:11:00.000-08:002008-03-02T10:11:00.000-08:00I guess a 7-11 is better than a trash can, or some...I guess a 7-11 is better than a trash can, or some other worse fate. It does sadden me that people can abandon their babies, but if they are able to do that, then what kind of parent would they be anyway? The safe-haven program has saved so many. I was just thinking the other night of a terrible story that happened to an 18 month old in my state not that long ago. I wish I could take in all these kids and show them what love truly is, I can only pray that someone, somewhere will show them they deserve better and that being abused is not ok. Thanks for sharing the story Zoe, this beautiful baby will surely find loving parents and thank God she is safe now.Michelle Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04641964724198743746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110507722103996096.post-46014610692801887132008-03-02T10:05:00.000-08:002008-03-02T10:05:00.000-08:00She's lovely, I'd take her in a heartbeat. In the state I was in we had separate liquor stores. Sure they sell beer and cigarettes, but also all the other "conveniences" of newspapers, snacks, lotto tickets and other random necessities.

I'd much rather a desperate parent have the option of leaving their infant at a 7/11 which is always attended, with people coming in and out at all hours, than leave them to freeze to death or be found days later in a dumpster...

Even Dante from Clerks would have the brains (and the don't-leave-me-alone-with-this-thing-fear!!) to call the authorities IMMEDIATELY if they were to acquire a baby on their premises.

I say the more safe places the better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7110507722103996096.post-17839014526529403002008-03-01T18:53:00.000-08:002008-03-01T18:53:00.000-08:00I guess I'd rather someone leave a baby at a 7-11 ...I guess I'd rather someone leave a baby at a 7-11 than have the baby die.
