Cat Chow
There is something seriously wrong with Her Majesty. I mean besides the obvious things, like not speaking. Ava loves to watch Animal Planet. Her favs are Meerkat Manor, Living with Wolves (she likes to howl with them) and Giant Cat Diary.
Well the other night we were watching the "big cats". She would become quiet anxious when commercials came on. As if they signaled an end to her viewing pleasure. She was happily chattering away to the cats when I noticed a baby deer like thing hop into view on the screen. Ahhh. Oh no. The horror that is nature was about to unfold before my delicate 2 year olds eyes.
She was fixated as the spotted panther chased down the tiny creature and slaughtered it. With tears in my eyes I turned to look at Ava. I expected a look of sorrow, or confusion. Instead her face was a glow with excitement. She pointed at the TV and began to laugh hysterically. She continued to giggle uncontrollably while the big cat and her baby ripped the little deer to shreds.
Is it any surprise she is a carnivore? What am I raising here people?

Maybe a realist?...:_)
ReplyDeleteahh, it's nice to see she has a hobby :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I cringe and squirm in my seat while something like that happens on tv, only to realize that my kids don't "get it" when it's all over with. To them, it was just part of the show. I have been uber conscious of scary things like that not being allowed to be on the tv, only to realize my kid is learning "KILL HIM, KILL HIM, KILL HIM" at preschool. All that work, for nothin!
ReplyDeleteMaybe, she liked the thrill of the chase? Or she, um, well, is deer really red meat? At least it wasn't raised on hormones and antibiotics. I'm trying here...
ReplyDeleteThat's my kind of girl!
ReplyDeleteOh, and why is it that Animal Planet now shows all kinds of horror shows? Like that Animal Cops show? I used to leave Animal Planet on for my cats when I was gone during the day, but then I discovered that they were just watching morbid images of starving/abused animals all day while I was gone. So now they don't watch it anymore.
Maybe this is evil of me, but I like your kid's sense of humor. :-)
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha. We love Animal Planet.
ReplyDeleteIts nice to know that at least one of you is normal over there!
ReplyDeletei had to chuckle. you might want to keep any animals you have there under close surveillance.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Bean loves animal Planet and Discovery. Maybe she thought they were playing?
ReplyDeleteI'd only be worried if she begins to try the same to your pets!
Oh and Bean FREAKs when commercials come on. Of course I am suppossed to fix this when it happens. Sure kid no problem.
Oh, I love it Zoe!
ReplyDeletei love me some meerkat manor though i missed last season...have to catch up on netflix.
ReplyDeleteoh omg...ava is demented...but so adorable. oh well...maybe she thinks its fake since it is tv. but i think thats too funny...you always leave me giggling... =)
and i do agree, just keep an eye on your pets just in case lol
xox
LOL Thankfully she is too young to quite realize that the cats and deer were not just "wrestling" LOL
ReplyDeleteMaybe she thought they were just tackling each other?? Luckily she's probably too young to realize what happened!
ReplyDeleteLizzy
Be afraid! Be VERY afraid!! Be VERY VERY AFRAID!!! [grin] (ain't they fun? those little bundles that we parents convince ourselves NEED us.)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't she have 3 brothers???? I think that says it all.
ReplyDeleteLove AP! I'll 2nd & 3rd the comments that it will help build her sense of survival skills with older brothers :)
ReplyDeleteShe is just so dang cute. I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteLOL, kids always know how to surprise us. I think I would be the one running from the room crying.
ReplyDeleteSorry...I had to laugh. You might want to keep an eye on Norm, though. LOL! Speaking of Norm...you haven't mentioned him lately. Is he still part of the family?
